Welcome To The Parker's Piranhas Swim School!
Since opening Parker Piranhas Swim School at our home in 2009, we’ve had the incredible privilege of teaching thousands of children—and even a few adults—how to swim and develop confidence in the water.
My Swim Philosophy
Swimming is a fun and life-saving skill. It is absolutely necessary that your child know how to swim and be able to have the skills to save themselves.
Because of this, I do not spend time playing games with your child, but rather teaching only swimming skills. Your child will spend each of his or her turns in the water practicing life-saving swimming skills.
We have class every day to encourage their muscles to remember what to do in an emergency. This is called “muscle memory.” A very young child must practice a skill almost daily in order to retain the skill as an an automatic response. Practicing daily also allows them to retain each skill learned in order to build skills at a rapid pace.
Classes
Below are the four swim classes we offer. Each class is designed to accommodate different skill levels and abilities. Whether you’re a beginner or looking to refine your technique, we have a class for you!
Basic Beginner
This class is 50 minutes per day, Monday thru Friday for two weeks. This class focuses on swimming with face in the water, back floating, and getting out of the pool. You should be able to expect that most children over two-years-old will be able to swim the length of the pool by the end of the two weeks (younger ones will still need help getting their breath).
Refresher
This class is 50 minutes per day, Monday thru Friday for one week. This class reviews and refines the Basic Beginner skills while increasing stamina and proficiency in the water. Child must have taken Basic Beginner or comparable lessons and SHOULD BE ABLE TO CROSS THE WIDTH OF THE POOL WITHOUT HELP prior to the start of class. This class is best suited for those age four and above.
Strokes
This class is 50 minutes per day, Monday thru Friday for one week. This class introduces the student to the major strokes including freestyle, breaststroke, elementary backstroke, backstroke, and early diving. Child must have taken Beginner Refresher or comparable lessons and SHOULD BE ABLE TO SWIM THE LENGTH OF THE POOL REPEATEDLY WITHOUT HELP prior to the start of class. This class is best suited for those age six and up.
Advanced Strokes / Swim Team Prep
This class is 50 minutes per day, Monday thru Friday for one week. This class moves the student towards proficiency in the strokes includes drills, races, and advanced stroke skills that will prepare the student for swim team or competitive swim. Freestyle, breaststroke, butterfly, and backstroke will each be improved and perfected. Child must have taken the Strokes class or comparable lessons and SHOULD BE ABLE TO SWIM THE LENGTH OF THE POOL REPEATEDLY WITHOUT HELP prior to the start of class. This class is best suited for those age seven and up who have completed the Strokes class.
